National Green Customs Workshop for Customs Officers, Ulaan Bator, Mongolia, 28 - 29 April 2009

Organised by United Nations Environment Programme and the Government of Mongolia, a national Green Customs Workshop was held from 28 - 29 April 2009 in Ulaan Bator. Besides customs officers from both the capital and regions, participants and speakers represented a variety of Government agencies including the Ministry of Nature, Environment & Tourism; Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs; the State specialised Inspection Agency; the National Police Agency, the Mongolian Refrigeration Association; the National Ozone Authority and ECO Asai University. Dr. Pillai represented the Secretariat of the Biosafety Protocol. Conclusions of the workshop emphasise the need for improving the legal environment and improvement of the cooperation and information exchange both between national agencies and with neighbouring countries China and Russia.
